[Miles nods, pleased. That's one of the pleasing things about it, really, the wonderful thing about that sort of car - knowing it can go so fast but choosing to drive safely. He can't quite put his finger on the reason why that's such a nice notion, can't really identify why the thought is so wonderful - it's just something sort of like how Dad could make hundreds of thousands every year but instead they live in a modest flat and drive a modest car. There's something very nice about the thought of having the potential to do something selfish and choosing the good thing instead.]

[Clearly the magic words: Edgeworth brightens at once, his grin solidified. The thought of dad's approval is enough to make him nod, firmly, and announce:]

[Miles nods enthusiastically, and shakes Sirius' hand enthusiastically, then sits back and looks out the window. They're coming around a bend in the track, and he blinks out there, searching - not quite there yet. He looks back at Sirius, gives a slightly embarrassed grin - ]

I'm...pretty excited. We're going to be there soon, right?

[He'd leaned forward as well--just a little, just enough to see--but he nods at Edgeworth anyways, with an expert air.]

Oh, yeah. Any minute now. You'll have to put on your school robes, 'cos we'll go right away to the start of term feast.

Oh, yeah - my robes -

[His face brightens as he remembers those; then he looks around and wrinkles his nose - ]

My luggage is still in the other compartment. Um -

[He asks, with just a little bit of embarrassment - ]

[Untroubled, Sirius shoves himself forward and slips out of his seat, going right for the compartment door.]

Anyways, then I can see who this wanker is, the one in your first compartment.

[It's still thrilling, using that word without fear of reprimand. Wanker. He grins a little.]

[And Miles smiles broader, much braver with the thought of Sirius at his back. Or - in front of him. Technically speaking. Still, brightly, he nods and follows behind him, a few steps behind, and says - ]

Third compartment down. Right there on the right.

[Sirius nods and, without hesitation, goes, ducking to avoid other students passing by in the corridor. It's not a far distance, and he's soon at the door to the compartment in question, shoving it open and striding into the room as if he owns the place.]

We're here for his trunk.

[The boy sitting there is wearing a singularly unpleasant expression. He looks up with complete, aristocratic contempt, opens his mouth to say something unpleasant - and then, all at once, that drops away. He scrambles to his feet, says -

You're - Sirius Black. We met, do you remember when we met -

Which makes Miles squint at Sirius in surprise.]

[Sirius nods, once, folding his arms over his chest. He hasn't forgotten what it is to have people react to him like this--but he wishes he could have. An hour or so in Miles' company, and Sirius has found that he much prefers when people don't know him, when people get to know him rather than hear his family name and expect something, or look for something.

It's an advanced thought, one that he's not sure of. But he remembers how effortless and fun conversation with Miles was--and how forced it was to talk to this kid, at the wedding he's talking about. It was really for the adults, but all of the children were there as well, forced into dress robes.]

Yeah. Rosier. I remember.

[And he turns his back on Rosier, looking at Miles instead.]

If we stand on the bench, we ought to be able to get your trunk.
